The Art of Jenna Herbst

“Art is redemptive. It never takes…it only gives. Whether I make it or enjoy it, I’m only allowing the best of me, which is the part that loves unconditionally and never gives up on myself or others.” - Jenna

Acrylic Paintings

Watercolor & Drawings

Jenna Herbst discovered in 2020 that she enjoyed drawing with colored pencils, moving slowly over the paper and taking a month or so for each drawing. Then, curious about paint, she started using watercolor and ink to make illustration type work. From there, she wanted brighter, thicker colors, and moved to acrylics, which is what she uses now. Mostly on canvas and sometimes on wood, she creates images from her imagination of how light and joy erupt through our lives and experiences, and also how the transformative element of the heart allows love to come through even the darkest of experience. Her pieces are illustrative, containing elements of magic. The myths and fairytales seemingly generated by imagination are real in the sense that they illustrate the journey of our soul through what is seen with the eyes, and seen with the heart, and the inner senses. Jenna’s other profession of counseling and teaching is also a part of her work, and she is always interested in healing and awakening. She is currently working on writing and illustrating a book (or several books, depending on the day).

Outside of painting, Jenna has an M.Div. from the Naropa University, and teaches classes. She is also a musician, and you can find one of her albums, “Songbird,” on Spotify, Apple, and YouTube.

“Art is my redemption, for being human. It’s my apology so to speak. A devotional apology. It’s unconditional love. Both whatever art I make and whatever art I love that others make. That’s how I feel it.” - Jenna
